Borovets is the oldest mountain resort in Bulgaria, in the pine forests of the Rila Mountains below Musala, the highest peak of the Balkans. The transfer from Plovdiv takes about 1 hour 50 minutes along the Trakia motorway and up through Kostenets and Dolna Banya.
